We are a full service gerbil vet clinic providing care, diagnosis, and treatment. Pet gerbils are fun, social animals that enjoy being around humans or other gerbils. They love to burrow and play in tubes and boxes. They do well in pairs if they have been raised together, are the same gender, and not separated from each other. They are susceptible to respiratory illness and parasites. If you notice a change in behavior in your gerbil, you should bring him in for a checkup. Common signs of illness in gerbils include weight loss, lack of energy, sneezing, stuffy nose, diarrhea, dull or crusty eyes, and eating or drinking less. In order to keep your gerbil healthy and happy, we provide the following veterinary services:
As part of your pets wellness examination, we’ll consult with you about your concerns and discuss specific needs of your gerbil such as diet. We will visually examine teeth, ears, eyes, mouth, and skin for signs of illness. If we find anything abnormal, we may do testing to diagnose possible illness.
Feeding your gerbil a balanced diet with the necessary nutrients will keep him healthy and energetic. Lower protein and higher fiber is usually the way to go. We can assist you in finding the right diet for your pet’s situation.
Gerbils teeth continue to grow throughout their lives. Any small problems can therefore become major ones as they grow over time. Mal-alignments can lead to oral sores, anorexia, and abscess formation. We can determine if your gerbil has a dental problem, correct it, and take steps to prevent a recurrence.
Gerbils can get internal and external parasites that cause discomfort and may lead to serious illness. We offer parasite control medication to keep your pet parasite free.
Our goal is to keep your pet healthy and prevent illness. If your pet is injured or ill, rest assured that we have the tools necessary to diagnose the problem and offer state-of-the-art treatment.
